Stuck on a crossword clue? Enter the letters you've already filled in, using a question mark for each unknown square. The solver checks every word of that exact length against a comprehensive English dictionary and returns every match.
For example, the pattern c?t matches three-letter words like cat, cot, and cut. The pattern ?ross???d matches nine-letter words like crossword. Useful for crosswords, word puzzles, codeword puzzles, and Wordle-style games.

How does the pattern work?
Each character is one position in the answer. Letters are matched literally; a ? matches any single letter. The total pattern length must equal the word length you're searching for.
How big is the word list?
The dictionary contains hundreds of thousands of valid English words, including most words you'll encounter in standard crossword puzzles. Very obscure proper nouns and brand names are not included.
Why are results capped at 500?
Very loose patterns (e.g. all question marks) match thousands of words and scrolling through them isn't useful. Add more known letters to narrow the search.
